A Map is Not the Road

"A Map is Not the Road" explores the inner rage that escapes the 'human container,' erupting like a volcano or compressing under cultural masks shaped by etiquette, expectations, or flawed parenting. Two middle-aged women navigate states between irritation and madness, drawing on Soraya Chemaly's work on female anger and its gendered context. Inspired by her insights, the research delves into how historical repression has invisibly silenced women's emotions, aiming to give voice to these experiences for themselves and others.

Moshi Moshi

"Moshi Moshi,"  a Japanese phrase meaning “hello” when answering the phone, serves as a metaphor for exploring communication. The piece explores how we navigate the visible and hidden layers of connection, reflecting on the constant messages we send—both intentionally and unconsciously. Premiered in 2013 at ANATOMY NIGHT (Summerhall, Edinburgh) and further developed during a 2014 residency at Dance Base, this short dance and physical theatre work captures the complexity of expressing who we are and what we need in life.

It Could Be Lost

"It Could Be Lost" began as a live dance piece at Anatomy Night (Summerhall, Edinburgh, 2012) and evolved into a dance film in 2013. The work delves into how self-judgment can stifle uniqueness, offering a poignant exploration of the need to overcome inner barriers to fully embrace individuality.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is transformed through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions.
It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.”
